  • The car is fresh from delighting the crowds at the Mille Miglia, in which it was driven by Coldplay bass player Guy Berryman.
  • FCA Heritage is the organisation formed to conserve and promote the company's historic legacy, at the service of collectors and also ordinary fans of the cars and history of the Alfa Romeo, Fiat, Lancia and Abarth brands.

The 2018 edition of the Vernasca Silver Flag, the historic re-enactment of the Castell'Arquato-Vernasca hill climb staged between 1953 and 1972, will be held from 29 June to 1 July. The erstwhile stopwatches have been abandoned and today the event takes the form of a "dynamic conservation and restoration concours" - the cars parade on roads closed to the traffic at restricted speeds - open only to racing cars built from the origins of motoring to the early Seventies.

Organised by the Club Piacentino Automotoveicoli d'Epoca, this year the "Vernasca Silver Flag" is being held for the 23rd time. FCA Heritage will again have its own stand at the event, and will be fielding a fine historic Alfa Romeo brand car: the 1900 Sport Spider built in 1954.
It is an extremely rare racing spider - produced in just two units - equipped with the 4-cylinder twin-cam dry sump "1900" engine, with maximum power boosted to 138 HP, enabling it to reach a speed of 220 km/h, thanks to a weight of just 880 kg and particularly efficient aerodynamics. With its innovative Bertone design, the 1900 Sport Spider comes with a 5-speed transmission and a De Dion rear axle: performance and handling worthy of a modern car, responsive and reliable, with outstanding road-holding abilities.

More information about FCA Heritage's participation is available at www.fcaheritage.com. The portal is the meeting-place for everyone interested in the history, the events and the activities dedicated to the classic models of the Italian FCA brands.
